If the object is a noun (e.g., the newspaper ), you can put it between the verb and the particle (e.g., throw the newspaper away ) or after it ( throw away the newspaper ). However, if the object is a pronoun (e.g., it , them ), you must put it between the verb and the particle. This is a classic "hot" test question!
